3/6 6:30AM had block ice delivered to the boat. Local fishermen that we met at the Palapa in Pichilingue offered to drop off 2 big blocks of ice on their way out in the morning. Probably 30lbs! We washed all the sand off the boat, pulled the anchor up at 15:00 and headed 4 miles to the closest fuel at Marina CostaBaja. Well what do you know, Steve Jobs’ mega yacht… after topping off on fuel and water we sailed 5 miles back to El Merito, tucked comfortably behind Isla Lobos. “Vida Rica” “TimePiece” and “Sara M” are all anchored here. Anchor down at 18:45 with the sun. Gorgeous. Purple, pink, orange. Had dinner on “vida rica”.
3/7 Fished and explored the clear placid bay. Dinner on “timepiece”
3/ 8 Dug for clams. Fished. Circled the entire bay on the dinghy. Hung out on the low tide beach. Dinner on “Sara M” with Alan and his 2 brothers that were visiting. He spent 10 years hand crafting his 54’ wooden schooner/brig rig. Pure bad ass. (yes we just scored 3 nights in a row of dinner and great company!)
3/9 Low tide beach dug for clams. Explored in the rocks. Saw an octopus. Dinghy to Pichilingue for margaritas and to check our emails. “breezo” arrived in El Merito.
3/10 We returned “Breezo’s” DVDs that we were borrowing before they headed back to La Paz. We spent the day baking fresh bread, cookies, and muffins for our upcoming sail. Played dominos while we waited. Beginning of a slight Norther today. Rough chop on the outside of the bay.
3/11 Tried to dinghy to Pichilingue again. Plan was to raid the ferry terminal of all their TP. I guess karma said no. We got halfway there and decided to turn back after feeling uneasy surfing the dinghy in 6ft rolling swell. Quite dangerous. We got back and decided to hike up the hill. 2 miles of desert mountain. Beautiful views. Windy all day. Calmed down to NE-E at night.
