Pea Island Surf

9/11/2013
Claire's younger brother Will and myself took a drive down to Pea Island.  His girlfriend Patterson came along and took most of these photos.  We decided to have a 9' Longboard session. Driving south down to Pea Island from Kitty Hawk can always be a gamble when it comes to the surf.  "In town" conditions are easy to check with surf reports and web-cams.  Pea Island is a National Wildlife Refuge on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.  Growing up here, we've learned what conditions to look for to score a good time, and we sure did.  Super glassy, extremely light offshore winds, tide was just right.  This is just a sample of photos from that day, they are in sequential order. Enjoy.

The Shoals off Oregon Inlet.  Check that wave out there!
This is why we are known as the "graveyard of the Atlantic".
Diamond Shoals off Cape Hatteras is the worst.
