Bahia Asuncion and Bahia Hipolito

From Turtle bay we set out for Bahia de Asuncion. 46 miles south. We planned on leaving at 7:30 but didnt realize the timezone change so it was actually 8:30AM. Great sail all afternoon. Dad caught a yellowfin tuna (some of those pictures are in the previous post) Sashimi platter for lunch. Sailed wing and wing for a while. Got to Asuncion later than we expected due to low winds. Dropped the anchor at 21:00. Surprisingly our friends on ‘sweet dreams’ and ‘gemini’ were there! The next morning we went to shore and got gas, water, and groceries. Very nice town. Later we had dinner on ‘sweet dreams’. After getting internet, chatting with fellow boats, and checking the weather we decided to sit in this harbor for a few days waiting for a small blow to pass by. So while we waited we decided to play. The next day we took the dinghy out to the point and collected from the tidepools. We scored on an octopus! We also went snorkeling and I speared my first fish, of course it was a pufferfish. It’s so beautiful under the water and tons of fish. We can’t wait till we get more south where it’s even warmer and more clear. The next morning we noticed a few boats left so we moved our anchorage a little closer to shore. Well later that night about 23:00 our neighbor on ‘inkatu’ radioed us saying “I think you are drifting towards me, I’m not comfortable with your distance, and I’m not a nice guy”. Which was extremely annoying because the whole night we woke up every 30 minutes checking our scope and distance to him. And the most annoying part was he had NO anchor light on his boat and the tide/wind was blowing so that HE would have drifted into US if that were to happen. So we had a horrible night sleep. The next day we took the dinghy over to the east side beach which was more inside the bay. It was beautiful. It reminded me of going to Oregon inlet. Tiny waves, clean white sand. We ended up killing it surf fishing. I was catching double trouble 2 croakers at a time. We ended up with 3 nice flounder and a dozen croakers. Fish for everyone! 12/1 we pulled up the hook at 10:30AM and made a day sail 20 miles south to Bahia de Hipolito. It was my idea to ‘race’ ‘sweet dreams’ and of course we lost. They’re 8 ft bigger and a different class boat. But we had an awesome sail anywhere from 3.5kts to 7kts. Wing and wing. It was a nasty windy night there on anchor. The boat was humming and shaking all night. But every star was as big and as bright as can be. Plus the huge orange moonrise again. The morning of 12/2 we pulled up the anchor and set south again for Abreojos.
